Should I flush my Transmission?
A&P Transmsissions recommends to not flush your transmission if the vehicle has high mileage. Flushing the transmission fluid may create more problems when a vehicle has high mileage. Flushing the transmission fluid is not a fix all because the high mileage vehicle has adapted to its thick old transmission fluid by filling up gaps in the worn out seals. When the new clean fluid is installed it slips by the the old seals causing the transmission to slip because it can’t hold the pressure any more. So, changing the transmission fluid on a high mileage vehicle is not recommended by A&P Transmissions. A&P Transmissions suggests to continue flushing a vehicle’s transmission fluid only if the vehicle has been consistently flushed regularly each year with all other required maintenance.
